On Sunday June 13th I took Tessa to the Annual General Meeting of the
Wolseley Hornet Special Club. This is held in the Bell Inn at Beauchampton, a
small village just north of Princes Risborough. On the way, with about 5 miles
to go the Hornet suffered from a common ailment of early Hornets, a blown head
gasket. I continued to the meeting where spares secretary Jim Bounden had very
conveniently brought a supply of recently manufactured gaskets. After taking
much advice on how to cure the fault for the future I wired out the two central
spark plugs and returned home on four cylinders. (there's nothing like having a
few spare!!). Here are a couple of pictures from the event.

Three weeks later with the head gasket now repaired I attended an event to
reenact the Kop hill climbs of the past. This was organised by the Bean Car club
and there was a goodly contingent of Hornets present. For me it was a test to
ensure the head gasket was secure before going to france in early August.
The
morning was a bit dull with some showers passing through and due a problem on
the hill the procedings had become delayed. So off to a good lunch at a local
pub and back for some runs up the hill in somewhat brighter weather in the
afternoon. Here are some pictures.

In early August Ann and I and the girls joined the Wolseley Hornet Special
Club for their annual rally to Normandy. This year Tony Mead had arranged it as
an Eclipse Viewing Spectacular .
